September General Meeting – “Surviving An Active Shooter Event”
SURVIVING AN ACTIVE SHOOTER EVENT
Have you ever wondered what you would do if you found yourself in a store and you heard gun shots ring out? Would you panic, or would you know what to do?
This training program was developed and designed by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office training academy, Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and Risk Management. The program utilizes components from recognized best practice training programs including, ALERRT, CRAZE, and Run, Hide, Fight.
The goal is never to intimidate or create panic in our trainees; but rather inspire awareness and empowerment. Classes are instructed by Senior Homeland Security Planner Miranda Hahs and MCSO SWAT team members Eric Ward, Daniel Pena, Jason Henson and Lt. Jim Hook. You will be instructed on the components of Run, Hide, Fight, and what to expect when Law Enforcement arrives.
Students are encouraged and instructed on maintaining situational awareness wherever they are, and trained on topics including warning signs, stress response, and law enforcement cooperation.
The program has been condensed for presentation at our luncheon. If there is enough interest, the Sheriff’s department will conduct a full 1 ½ hour program at another location later in the year.
The MCRW September luncheon is September 28, at River Plantation Country Club, 550 Country Club Drive, Conroe, 11:00 PM – 1:00 PM. Cost is $18. A reservation made is a reservation paid and must be made by 9:00 A.M. on September 25. For reservations or information, you may contact email@example.com.
