Ted Cruz secures his place in the Senate
I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you. To everyone who contributed, to everyone who volunteered, to everyone who made phone calls, to everyone who knocked on doors, to everyone who spoke to their neighbors and friends, to everyone who came out to an event, to everyone who spread the word online, to everyone who voted. Thanks to each and every one of you who did any (or all) of those things and more on behalf of this campaign or even my opponent’s.
It’s civic participation that makes this Constitutional Republic of ours work best, and we saw a surge of people getting involved in the political process in 2018. That’s a great thing. Part of that process means sometimes you win, and sometimes you aren’t so lucky. But when all the cards are on the table and the votes are counted, we come together and get to work for the people of Texas.
There’s something we as Texans have known to be true about ourselves for quite some time, that the whole nation got to see during and after Hurricane Harvey. We come together to help those in need and face the challenges of the day – without concern for one’s party or ideology.
We’re Texans. It’s what we do. It’s that spirit that makes our state exceptional. And it’s that same spirit that makes me incredibly proud to once again have been entrusted with the high honor of representing 28 million Texans in the United States Senate.
We’ve made great progress since I was first elected in 2012, but there’s still a lot of work to do protecting jobs, freedom, and security for Texas and America. You have my word that as your U.S. Senator, I will work tirelessly each and every day to uphold our Constitution and fight for the values we as Texans hold dear. And I want to work with you at any and every opportunity along the way.
